Sapphire Experience: Monaco Yacht Show VIP Pass
The Sapphire Experience is the Monaco Yacht Show's official VIP programme: access on all four days including the closed Wednesday, private yacht tours arranged by the show, the Upper Deck Lounge, and courtesy cars around Monaco. It is capped at around 200 people, it is application-only, and roughly four in five applicants are refused. It is built for people in the market for a yacht, and it screens for exactly that.

Why four in five are refused
Because the programme exists for the exhibitors, not the applicants. A shipyard bringing a 100-metre yacht to Monaco has one purpose for the week: to put genuine buyers aboard it. The Sapphire Experience is the show's way of delivering those people, in a small enough number that each one gets a broker's full attention. Admitting everyone who could afford the pass would defeat the point — the exhibitors would spend Wednesday giving tours to people who were never going to buy, and the programme would stop being worth their time.
So the show screens. It asks, in effect, whether you are in the market. It is not personal, and it is not about wealth in general. It is about whether a shipyard will thank the organiser for putting you aboard.
Who it is genuinely for
- Someone buying or seriously considering a yacht in the coming year or two, who wants to see several in a day with the right people on board.
- Someone chartering at the top of the market — the charter fleet at the show is where next summer's calendar is set, and a Sapphire holder is aboard on Wednesday before the public arrives.
- Someone representing a buyer — a family office, a captain, an advisor with a mandate.
It is not for a good day out in Monaco. The standard pass is for that, and it is a very good day out. The difference is set out in what a pass buys.
If you are refused
You are in the majority, and it changes less than it seems. The standard pass gives you the docks from Thursday, and boardings on any yacht are arranged the same way for everyone who is not Sapphire: through the broker, in advance, on the strength of a genuine enquiry. A well-prepared visitor with a standard pass and three confirmed appointments sees more yachts, properly, than a Sapphire holder who turns up without a plan. The parallel that matters
The Sapphire Experience is a good model of what invitation-only actually means when it is done honestly: not a price high enough to exclude, but a screen that asks whether the thing exists for you. Common questions
How much does the Sapphire Experience cost?
The organiser quotes the price on application and does not publish it. Reports describe it as a significant premium over the standard pass. Anyone quoting you a fixed figure from a website is repeating a rumour.
Can a broker get you into the Sapphire Experience?
A broker with a genuine client can support an application, and it helps — the show is deciding whether you are in the market, and a broker's word that you are counts. It does not override the cap or the screen.
Is Wednesday really better?
For boardings, yes. The docks are quieter, the crews are fresh, and exhibitors are giving their fullest tours before the public days begin. For atmosphere, Friday and Saturday are the show at full volume.
Does Sapphire include hotels or transfers to Monaco?
No. Courtesy cars operate within Monaco. Getting to Monaco, and staying there in a week when every hotel is full, is separate and is set out in Monaco Yacht Show week.
